Over 200 activists of the J-K Democratic Front took out a protest rally here in the city demanding release of three party members arrested in the Assembly on October 8.
However, they were cane charged by police in a bid to disperse them during which three of them were injured, sources said.
JKDF leader Neelam Devi said government should immediately release the 3 activists "who were peacefully protesting over employment policy".
The state Assembly had witnessed unruly scenes on October 8 as the three JKDF activists, who had got passes on the request of expelled BJP member Jagdish Raj Sapolia to witness the proceedings from the public gallery, unfurled the flag of their newly-floated party and shouted slogans.
Munish Khajuria, Sunny Malhotra and Ambedkar Gupta were immediately overpowered by Assembly marshals and placed under arrest on the orders of Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone.
The speaker today ordered the suspension of five security personnel in connection with the incident.
