"The recent floods have created havoc in both the regions of the state, but the state government has not only failed to provide relief to the flood hit, but it has miserably failed to rehabilitate the flood hit people, who lost everything in the floods," Prof Bhim Singh, founder of JKNPP said.
Singh said that his party filed a petition with the Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Constitution seeking immediate remedies for the rescue of the stranded people in different parts of the state and for their relief and rehabilitation.
Singh said that during one of his recent visits to Srinagar to assess the damage caused by the floods, he was dismayed to find that the relief has not reached the actual flood hit residents.
"More than 90 percent of the flood affected people in Srinagar told me that they had not received any aid or assistance from the government except some rice and dry food," he said.
The situation was similar in various flood hit areas of Jammu region as no relief had reached flood victims there.
