The JMM today accused the BJP of assaulting its workers in Dumka and in some other constituencies in the Santhal Pargana region, hours after the saffron party registered an FIR against Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with assaulting its activists.
"The RSS goons from across the country have descended in Santhal Pargana. Some criminal-minded people yesterday beat up one of our party workers in Dumka brutally," JMM general secretary Suprio Bhattacharya alleged at a press conference here.
"We met Election Commission officials in Ranchi and apprised them of the situation and urged them to arrest and evict such people from Santhal Pargana," he added.
Bhattacharya said the Chief Minister has a three-tier security cover, accompanied by a videographer and the administration knows every minute-detail of his movement.
The Chief Minister's brother Basant also has some security personnel, he said adding, let the administration tell about their whereabouts last night.
In its FIR, the BJP alleged that the Chief Minister and his brother were present when JMM activists allegedly attacked its party office in Dumka and beat up its activists last night.
16 constituencies are going for polls in the fifth and final phase of polling tomorrow.
