The Jawaharlal Nehru Customs House (JNCH) today launched 'Refund Automation & Digitisation Centre' to digitalise the refund process of Customs.
The centre will digitise all paper-work for filing refund applications and in due course also sanction refund in an automated way directly into the applicants account, a release issued here said.
It is estimated that this will save approximately 6 million copies of paper annually and help achieve the goal of 'Green Customs', said the release.
The idea of digitisation of refund process will not only bring in more efficiency by reducing paper work but also greater transparency, it added.
The Centre was inaugurated by John Joseph, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai (Zone-II).
