JNU hostel for NE students

Union DoNER ministry has agreed in principle to sanction an amount of 40 crore for construction of a 520-bed hostel within JNU campus with 70 per cent reservation for North East students.
The decision was taken in a meeting between DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar and Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh Takam Sanjoy besides other officials of the ministry at New Delhi yesterday, Sanjoy said herec today over telephone.
While the fund would be allotted from the central non-lapsable central pool of resources (NLCPR), a memorandum would be signed to this effect for which the JNU authorities have consented to name it as Subansiri NE hostel, Sanjoy said.
