JNU students today protested at the administration block of the varsity by writing "Where is Najeeb?" using flowerpots opposing the token punishment given to alleged assaulters of the missing MSC student and also against erection of iron grille to cover the space where they held sit in.
The parking space at admin block used by students organisations for sit in and protest was covered with iron grille on late Sunday night. However, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) asserted that they will continue with their protest at the same place on Najeeb issue.
"We held the protest today and used flowerpots to write-where is Najeeb- as a mark of protest against token punishment to his assaulters," said JNUSU president Mohit Pandey.
Four students involved in the scuffle at Mahi-Mandvi hostel of JNU on October 14 night, that allegedly led to the mysterious disappearance of Najeeb, have been been punished with transferring them to other hostels by the JNU administration.
"What is more shameful and disgusting, that the JNU administration, after two months of Najeeb's disappearance, has shown heights of tokenism in the name of punishment against Najeeb's assaulters," JNUSU said in a statement.
Najeeb had gone missing on October 15 following the scuffle allegedly with ABVP members the night before.
Delhi Police's Crime Branch has been trying to trace Najeeb without any success so far, although a reward of Rs 10 lakh has been announced on any information regarding him.
A protest march will be taken out by JNUSU from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar tomorrow, in which mother of the missing student will also participate.
