Kolkata police today unearthed an interstate job racket involving persons who cheated unemployed graduates from Hyderabad after promising them jobs in the Indian railways, police said.
One person, Palash Das from south Kolkata was arrested in this connection while police were on the look out for one Vinod, a Hyderabad resident and the main conspirator in the case besides others, Special Additional Commissioner of Police(Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh told reporters here today.
Manikanta Reddy visited Kolkata police headquarters yesterday and complained that three engineering graduates, who came to Kolkata couple of days back to appear for a training with the railways have been kidnapped, Ghosh said.
"Kidnappers used numbers of the kidnapped persons to call for ransoms of Rs four lakh," he said.
An FIR was lodged at the Hare street police station and a quick search revealed that Vinod, whom police took as a victim, was the main conspirator.
"They (the kidnappers) had realised that we are looking for them and they dropped the duo at the Howrah station. The duo were kept at a place in Kasba. We have arrested Palash Das from Sukantanagar," Ghosh said adding that Das has been remanded to police custody till July 6.
