Conducted by an independent agency, the survey gave the airport maximum points on the customer satisfaction index out of country's 52 airports spread over five regions, Director S N Borkar said at a press conference here.
Borkar received the award from Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal at a function in Delhi on April 1 on the foundation day of Airport Authority of India.
"Besides improving facilities on the airport, we also made maximum and best utilisation of the available or unused space on the airport," Borkar said.
The airport is under the process of expansion and sanction from the Ministry of Defence to this effect is awaited as the same is under the command of Indian Air Force.
