After a stellar first edition, which saw a live performance by English music legend Sting, the Jodhpur One World Retreat returns in March this year aiming to raise funds for the Indian Head Injury Foundation.
Founded by Maharaja Gajsingh II of Jodhpur, the three-day charity extravaganza is set to be again held at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
Events at the upcoming retreat include a session by Dr Jamshid Ghajar, founder of the US-based Brain Trauma Foundation besides an address by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
Personalties drawn from entrepreneurship, the arts, science, entertainment and philanthropy from across the world have been roped in, organisers said.
Global auction house Christies has scheduled a charity auction on one of the days, a unique fashion extravaganza at Mehrangarh Fort and performances by the Eton Choir as well as 'India's Got Talent' winners the Shillong Chamber Choir.
Last year the charity event had participation from personalities such as the former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actress Dia Mirza and industrialist Mukesh Ambani among others.
"The object of the Jodhpur One World Retreat is to raise awareness and resources for the Indian Head Injury Foundation, which I founded after my son's accident on the polo field some years ago," Gaj Singh said in a statement.
According to a WHO report, India has the highest number of road deaths in the world -- 1,05,725 in 4,00,000 accidents -- giving the country the dubious distinction of being the "head injury capital of the world.
