The 48-year-old former The Smiths guitarist said that his approach to songwriting changes as he gets older and now his best ideas come to him while he's taking a nap, reported Contactmusic.
"For the last five or six years I sleep in these little three or four hour bursts and then I get these creative ideas around three o'clock in the morning. Sometimes I go to bed late and then wake up two hours later and I've got a better song," he said.
Marr has played in a range of bands since the cult '80s group split and in recent years he's turned his attention to movie soundtracks, contributing to the score to 2010 sci-fit hit "Inception".
