The 34-year-old actor will be seen playing Mindy Kaling's husband on the show, reported Aceshowbiz.
He will appear in the season premiere, which imagines the alternate reality of Kaling's character, in which she is married to Gordon-Levitt's Matt.
"The Mindy Project" was previously canceled by FOX after three seasons before it was picked up by Hulu in May. There is still no premiere date for the 26-episode fourth season of the comedy series.
