The 'Safe Haven' actor, 41, who helped others when he was a child, having been introduced to volunteering by his parents, wants to encourage his son to follow in his footsteps, reported People magazine.
"As a kid, my mother encouraged us to get involved. But when you're a kid you don't really want to do stuff like that. You want to do fun stuff. But I always remembered it being fulfilling," Duhamel said.
"I want my son to understand that he is very fortunate and it's important to appreciate that and give back," he added.
Duhamel welcomed Axl with wife and Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie last year.
