Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today demanded that a separate Pay Commission be formed to look into the demands of defence and paramilitary personnel.
He told reporters here that there is an acute shortage of officials in the defence forces and impetus should be given to the young to come forward and join them.
"It is our demand that a separate Pay Commission should be established to look into better pay and other incentives for those employed in the defence forces. Ways of resettling these personnel- many of whom complete their career by 38 years- should also be attended to by the government," Joshi said.
He demanded that such a Pay Commission should also look into better pay and perks for the paramilitary and other forces.
"Today the life expectancy has gone up and people live longer. They should be provided for better pension and other benefits, especially those who belong to the defence forces," Joshi said.
