The Class 2 student was found dead with his throat slit in the washroom of Ryan International school in Bhondsi area. Ashok Kumar, a conductor of one of the school's buses, was arrested in connection with the crime.
Journalists from several media organizations who are members of the Maithil Journalists Group congregated at the Press Club here and marched to the Shastri Bhawan that houses the HRD Ministry.
"The government should frame guidelines along the lines of the Vishakha guidelines for working women to ensure safety and security of school children," the body demanded.
"There should be CCTV cameras installed on the school premises at all the vulnerable points. Police verification of all staff members should be mandatory and there should be regular interaction between the school administration, parents and police," it said.
The body also demanded separate washrooms for junior and senior students as well as for drivers and visitors to schools.
