"I demand that the state government take cognisance of this incident and take swift action against the guilty," the leader of the opposition said in a statement today.
Ajay said that the journalist, Rajendra Kumar, who had been fighting corruption in the state government, had even approached the court in this connection.
He said that the court had given some directives which the state government refused to follow and due to this the only way of protest left before the journalist was to attempt suicide.
Ajay said that when journalists are treated in this manner, the common man's situation in the state could well be imagined.
