Joy Alukkas Foundation to adopt villages in south India

Leading Jewellery retail brand Joy Alukkas has said it will adopt some villages in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala from this year as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
As part of the initiative, Joy Alukkas Foundation proposes to set up charity boxes in its showrooms in the southern states with an equal contribution from the Foundation to reconstruct dilapidated schools and government hospitals in villages, Joy Alukkas, chairman and managing director of the company, said.
Speaking at the group's 10th anniversary celebrations here last night, he said over 1,000 people of the group would donate blood on the occasion.
The group's Joy Alukkas Foundation has set clear goals on the CSR front to ensure enough is done for the people and the community within which it operates.
The foundation has undertaken activities, including Mangalaya mela,frequent blood donation camps, sponsoring sportsmen, donation of dialysis machines, among others, he said.
The foundation is associated with various NGO's which are provided with monthly donations from the foundation to assist them in their respective drives.
These include India Vision Foundation, spearheaded by Kiran Bedi, Kanivu Charitable Society, Mithram, a special school for differently-abled children, Shanthi Niketan Welfare society in Delhi and Building Blocks in Bangalore, among others.
Malayalam film actor Suresh Gopi and Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany were among those present.
