The Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman was earlier restricted to Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand.
"We have decided to take the award event to national level and this is our first year," JSPL CSR head Prakash Tewari said at a roadshow for the award event in West Bengal.
"The Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman will felicitate people from the grassroots level for their exemplary courage, commitment and confidence that has enabled them to overcome adversities and create a unique identity of their own, making them a source of inspiration for many," Shallu Jindal, President, JSPL Foundation said.
Ten awards would be conferred upon individuals and another 10 would be given to organisations.

The awardees will be given a certificate and Rs 1 lakh as prize money, Tewari said.
Meanwhile, Tewari said CSR budget for the current fiscal will be about Rs 60-70 crore.
In 2014-15 and in the year before that, the CSR spend was Rs 120 crore and Rs 250 crore respectively.
