Members of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) today held a demonstration infront of the Raj Bhavan here in protest against prolonged power cuts in Jagti Township in the outskirts of Jammu.
Led by its president Shadi Lal Pandita, the JTC members expressed grave concern over the government's "unwarranted attitude" of implementing prolonged power cuts of 18 hours in the township, which has forced the resident to suffer.
The protesters alleged that the government was forcing the migrants putting up in camps for executing agreements with Power Development for bearing the electricity charges.
The JTC members demanded an uninterrupted power supply to the area.
"Kashmiri Pandits have been forced to leave their homes. We have not left our native localities at our sweet will and as such no charges are liable to be paid by our community," Pandita said.
The Jagti township was developed to rehabilitate Kashmiri Migrants under the Prime Minister's Rehabilitation and Return Package for them.
