A judge in Puerto Rico has issued a temporary injunction blocking police from searching everyone who attends a popular street festival in the island's capital that attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year.
Yesterday's ruling comes a day after the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit challenging the new security measures approved by San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin.
It would have been the first time that police set up checkpoints and searched all people attending the four-day San Sebastian festival that began yesterday in historic Old San Juan.
The judge ruled that security cameras and police dogs are still allowed. A final decision in the lawsuit is expected in the coming days.
The festival features music, art and food.
