Madras High Court Chief Justice Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani Sunday stressed the need for judges and lawyers to work together to "uphold dignity of temples of justice and majesty of Constitution.
She was addressing members of the Bench and the Bar after opening an additional block comprising nine court halls at the Integrated court complex here.
"Courts are temples of justice and lawyers are the pillars of the temples of justice. Without the pillars the temples will collapse.
Hence judges and lawyers should work together to uphold dignity of temples of justice and for majesty of the constitution of the country," JusticeTahilramani said.
The Puducherry Union Territory Legal Services Authority also launched legal service clinics in the court campus.
Highlighting the lack of awareness among citizens regarding their rights, she said, "it is the duty of the State therefore to create awareness and to ensure that the citizens were not deprived of their legal entitlements."
