A school student was killed and 14 others, including nine policemen, were injured in a clash which led to police firing in the air in Hemlai tea estate under Mariani police station on August 18.
A group of people had gathered following an argument between a group of Village Defence Party (VDP) patrolling personnel and some people who came in a vehicle to the tea estate.
Police fired in the air to disperse the mob but in the ensuing melee, a 14-year old school boy was killed on the spot and two other students were critically injured along with nine policemen and three civilians.
Gogoi had earlier announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured along with free medical treatment.
