Judicial remand of TN fishermen extended till Jan23

A Sri Lankan court today extended till January 23 the judicial remand of four Tamil Nadu fishermen arrested by the island navy and lodged in a prison there.
The four fishermen of Jegathapatinam was stranded in deep sea near Neduntheevu on December 4 as their boat sank. They were rescued by Lankan navy personnel who arrested them.
The four fishermen were produced in the Oorkavalthurai magistrate court which extended their remand, S.Armstrong Fernando, Pamban fishermen organisation president and a representative of fishermen said from Sri Lanka over phone.
The fishermen have been lodged in Jaffna prison.
