"Look at the vast range of roles portrayed by Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep or say Halley Berry. Their works are now my inspiration," she told PTI.
"I have been fortunate at being part of a contrasting genre of films and I portrayed a huge range of characters in these two decades. But at this phase, I feel one should do much more complicated roles," said the actress at the announcement of a Bengali film based on legendary Bengali sports writer Moti Nandi's novel 'Baranda'.
"I had very recently completed shooting for a film in which Aparna Sen, who had directed me in 'Paromitar Ekdin' years back, is the creative consultant."
The film "Rong Beronger Kori" is about colours of money and I play two characters. A sex worker and her mother. "It is a challenge to portray to women of different generations and their complexities and hopes and agonies as a woman, she says.
"Tarun Majumder's 'Bhalobasar Bari' by popular, young writer Pracheta Gupta is also awaiting release.
