The college also awarded the same honorary degree to three other prominent figures in music industry including Sony Music Entertainment CEO Doug Morris, drummer Harvey Mason and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Dee Dee Bridgewater, reported Aceshowbiz.
Iglesias, 71, has produced more than 80 albums throughout his career. He became one of the top 10 best-selling artists in the world after his records were sold more than 300 million copies.
He also broke two Guiness world records with the first being set in 1983 for having sold the most records in the most various languages in history. Meanwhile, the second, the best-selling male Latin artist record, was set in 2013.
Iglesias joined past honorees that included Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, Steven Tyler, Loretta Lynn, David Bowie, Willie Nelson and Placido Domingo.
