In a letter forwarded to all the Members of Parliament of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in this regard, the General Secretary of JULU, Sapan Kumar Ghosal stated that 80 per cent work in sector across including the Industries, factories, mining, financial and educational institutions, hospital, railways and postal department are being taken by the contract labourers even as the permanent employees drew minimum Rs 20,000 as salary per month.
Ghosal alleged that the unorganized sector labourers were deprived of all facilities such as accumulation, casual and festival leaves as well as gratuity even after remaining engaged in the same work for last twenty to twenty five years.
As prime minister Narendra Modi has promised to bring in "good days", Ghosal demanded that the government should bring an amendment in the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act,1970 or abolish it to ensure good days for the unorganized sector labourers and their families.
