The jumbo-sized ministry of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government headed by T R Zeliang had drawn flak from the Opposition Congress party in the state.
The jumbo-sized ministry of Chief Minister T R Zeliang has "created an infamous record of sorts by accommodating every legislator of DAN as Parliamentary Secretaries and Adviser/Chairman with cabinet status apart from 12 Cabinet ministers," a Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee press release said today.
"For a small state like Nagaland, the downsizing of the ministry for better governance has been made redundant as T R Zeliang in his quest to cling on to the Chief Minister's chair has stooped blindly to satisfy the greed of his legislators who all seems to have lost their concern for the people after getting elected with plethora of promises," the party release said.
When the BJP government at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resorted to small cabinet for delivering maximum governance despite overwhelming mandate, it has had the opposite effect in Nagaland where out of 51 legislators of DAN, 45 have been accommodated with one posts or the other, it said.
In the 60 member House, NPF-led DAN has 51 members, out of which 12 are cabinet ministers, 24 parliamentary secretaries, five advisers with cabinet status and four MLAs as chairman of various government undertakings.
