Jung administers pledge to officials

Delhi's Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today administered 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' pledge to officials of Raj Niwas on the occasion of the 139th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day, saying a nation that disregards its history cannot create one and made a veiled reference to anti-Sikh riots that followed then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination this day 30 years ago.
In the pledge-taking ceremony at Raj Niwas, Jung said that everyone should dedicate themselves to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
Heads of various departments of the Delhi government also organised pledge-taking ceremony and administered 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' pledge to officials in their premises.
Apart from Delhi government, Delhi University also celeberated 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas'. Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh paid tributes to the first Home Minister of the country.
The VC led the university community in taking a pledge for national unity which was taken at various departments and colleges of the university simultaneously.
