"Tuberculosis continues to be a major public health challenge which requires greater attention being paid to disseminating widespread information about its prevention and cure," Jung said.
"Early detection can be critical in curing the disease and greater awareness about prevention and early diagnosis needs to be generated", Lt Governor said.
He also stressed on the need to have a robust TB management programme which would lay stress on its prevention, early detection, and eventual cure through administration of medicines, adding that greater awareness about prevention, early diagnosis, and cure has brought us a step closer to eradicating the disease.
"Your (Delhiites) contributions will go a long way in helping those patients, particularly belonging to the disadvantaged sections, who need assistance in tackling this disease," he also added.
During the programme, the representatives of the Delhi Tuberculosis Association also said that the sale proceeds of the TB Seal Sale Campaign are utilized for generating awareness about tuberculosis, as also for providing financial grant to the needy TB patients, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged sections.
