A K Das, Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, pronounced the judgement after convicting Udayanath Swain, ex-junior engineer, PWD, R&B, Badgan Section, of Sundargarh district in the case.
In default of payment of penalty, the convict will have to undergo further RI for one month.
The anti-corruption sleuths on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by Swain, searched his residential quarter and office at Badgaon and house at Deogarh, a vigilance statement said.
Meanwhile, vigilance sleuths today caught another junior engineer Bhagaban Sahoo, RWS&S, Dasapallah Block in Nayagarh district.
Sahoo had allegedly demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 5,000 from a panchayat functionary to prepare and process the bill pending for construction of toilet under Swachha Bharat scheme.
