Junior Indian lifters continue to impress

Indian weightlifters continued their impressive performance by bagging five more medals, including two gold, at the 17th Asian Youth (boys & girls) and 22nd Junior Women Championships in Doha, Qatar, today.
So far India have won seven medals in two days, of which four are gold.
In Youth Boys category, India accounted for two yellow metals.
While Jamjang Deru clinched the top spot in 56kg division with a 101kg lift in snatch and 141kg in clean & jerk for a total lift of 242kg, Lalu Taku won the gold in the 62kg section with a total effort of 250kg (108+142).
The second position in the Youth Boys 62kg category was also grabbed by an Indian -- Deepak Lather -- who lifted a total of 245kg with 115kg in snatch and 130kg in clean & jerk.
Deru, who had claimed the gold in Youth Boys 56kg, settled for a silver in Junior Men's 56kg division after a similar effort of 242kg (101+141) in this section as well.

But, his 141kg effort in clean & jerk won him a gold in that category.
Manoj Kumar clinched the bronze in the same division with a lift of 224kg (99+125).
In Youth Boys 50kg, Yangfo Gungte had to be satisfied with a fourth-place finish with 182kg (84+98).
Yesterday, Mohin Chavan and Manalisha Sonowal won a gold each in Youth Girls 44kg and Junior Women 48kg categories, respectively.
