JUSCO hikes power tariff

Jamshedpur Utility and Service Company Limited (JUSCO), a 100 per cent subsidiary company of Tata Steel, has revised its power tariff.
There has been an increase of around 8-9 per cent in this domestic and commercial category, which constituted 99 per cent of our consumer base, a press release said.
The revision is with effect from June 1.
JUSCO provides municipal services including electricity and water in the company's command area here.
The company also revised power tariff for Industrial and Housing societies and there has been an increase of around 17-18 per cent.
The Industrial tariff constituted four different categories, the release said adding while HT 1, which primarily consisted of Hotels/ Malls/ shopping complex/ Multiplex etc, the HT 2 to HT 4 categories consisted of medium and large scale industries.
JUSCO also supplies power in the Industrial area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district as well as in and around the steel city of Jamshedpur.
As far as DSHT (Societies) category was concerned, it said there has been an increase of around 8 per cent to 9 per cent for all housing societies, where there was bulk supply of electricity.
About the revised tariff, JUSCO said it purchases power from DVC and Tata Power and the cost of power purchase has increased over the last few years. All generating companies have been given tariff hike, which resulted in increased cost load on the distributing companies.
