A juvenile was apprehended near a bus stand in Bareilly today, for allegedly kidnapping the four-year-old son of his former employer from east Delhi's Kalyanpuri.
"The team apprehended the juvenile around 4 AM today at the bus stand near Imperial Mall, Bareilly. The child was safely rescued," said DCP (East) Omvir Singh.
Yesterday, around noon, the four-year-old boy went missing from his Kalyanpuri residence, said the officer.
The boy's family received ransom calls demanding Rs 3 lakh to be delivered to Bareilly.
The 16-year-old allegedly sent a message threatening to abandon the child if police was informed.
In another message, he assured the parents that their child had been served dinner and wouldn't be harmed if the money was paid on time.
The boy's parents approached police around 7 PM and a case under section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) of IPC was registered at Kalyanpuri police station.

Several places were raided in Bareilly and Badaun and after interrogating locals, the police team zeroed-in on the juvenile at a Bareilly bus stand in the wee hours today, said the officer.
After his mother's demise three month's back, he had left his job at Kalyanpuri and went to Badaun.
He wanted money to settle down somewhere since he had been kicked out of his house in Badaun by his sister-in-law four days back and was depressed after losing his mother.
He recently saw a South Indian movie dubbed in Hindi where four persons had kidnapped a boy and demanded ransom, Singh said, adding that the film had motivated him.
Police has added section 364A (Kidnapping for ransom) IPC in the case.
The accused had taken up a minor job at the boy's house in Kalyanpuri around a year back.
