Juvenile involved in hit-and-run case sent to remand home

A local court today sent the 14-year-old boy, who allegedly ran his car over people sleeping on a footpath in Danilimda area of the city killing two people yesterday, to a remand home.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Megistarte J M Brahmnhatt sent the juvenile to a remand home after the city police produced him before the court.
Two people were killed and four injured yesterday when the juvenile allegedly ran his car over them while they were sleeping on a footpath.
The police tendered an application before the court today and sought to invoke Sections 304, 338, 427 and 114 of the Indian Penal Code, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others, causing damage to property and abetment, respectively.
Earlier, the police had booked the minor under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
The accident claimed the lives of Salim Rashidkhan Pathan (40) and Rashida Munshifa Sheikh (40).
According to a city police officer, the juvenile had allegedly crushed the people yesterday morning and fled from the spot, after which he was apprehended by the police.
The metropolitan court is likely to hear the case later this week.
