A 10-year-old boy was allegedly abducted and killed by a juvenile following family feud in Rawatpur area in the district, just a couple of days after the Parliament passed amendments to the Juvenile Justice Act.
The victim, identified as Arsh Khan, a resident of Sultanpur Gali, was abducted and killed yesterday by 17-year-old Sarfaraz by slitting his throat due to family feud, SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said today.
Sarfaraz took Arsh to nearby Armapur forest on the pretext of showing him the decorations of Eid-e-Milad, he said, adding he slit the boy's throat with a knife and returned home after hiding his body in the bushes.
On being asked by the victim's parents, he said that their son was abducted by two bike-borne persons, police said.
During investigation, police found blood stains on Sarfaraz's feet and questioned him strictly, following which he confessed committing the crime, Tiwari said, adding that the boy's body was recovered from Armapur forest.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the accused arrested, he said.
Further investigations are on in the matter.
Meanwhile, angry over the incident, the victim's family members allegedly attacked Sarfaraz's house and set it on fire.
