JVM MLA granted permission to attend Assembly tomorrow
Press Trust of India Dhanbad (Jharkhand) A local court today permitted a Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) MLA, currently in judicial custody, to attend the confidence vote of the Hemant Soren government in the Jharkhand Assembly tomorrow.
Granting permission to legislator Dhulu Mahto, Sub-Judicial Magistrate Sri Subhas asked Dhanbad deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and jail superintendent to ensure Mahto's presence in the House by 10:30 am.
Mahto is facing charges for forcibly taking away an accused from police custody.
According to the FIR filed against Mahto and his supporters, they had allegedly attacked a police party and forcibly taken away an accused, Rajesh Gupta from Nishitpur, about 15 kms from Dhanbad on May 12.
Mahto and his supporters were charged under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapons), 149 (if an offence be committed by any member of an unlawful assembly, every other member of such assembly shall be guilty of the offence), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty).
Later, Mahto surrendered to the court, which sent him to judicial custody.
