K Rajendra appointed as SDG for Coordination
Press Trust of India Jammu In a reshuffle at the top, K Rajendra was today appointed as Special Director General for Coordination at the Police Headquarters here, a week after he along with P L Gupta were promoted to the rank of Director General of Police.
Rajendra, a 1984 batch IPS officer from Jammu and Kashmir, has served in the militancy-hit state in various capacities which includes the post of Inspector General of Kashmir division during which he was attacked by militants.
He thwarted attempts of the militants to target a political rally and was hit by a bullet in his leg.
Rajendra was currently looking after the prisons division. His tenure is up to September, 2016.
Along with him, his batch-mate Gupta, who was functioning as Additional Director General (coordination) at the Police headquarters has been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police and posted as Director General of Prisons.
Gupta's tenure will be up to August next year.
