Kabbadi player killed in car accident

A 21-year-old girl national-level kabbadi player was killed after a speeding car hit her in Hauz Khas area of south Delhi, police said today.
Deepti Yash was crossing August Kranti Marg on Monday afternoon around 1.30 pm when she was hit by a Volkwagen Polo car near Kamla Nehru college.
Yash suffered grievous injuries and was bleeding profusely, and was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where she was declared dead.
A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered and police has arrested a 50-year-old woman named Nalini Agarwal, who was behind the wheels, from her home in Jangpura later in the evening.
"Agarwal, who had stopped her car on the spot after the incident, had fled the scene leaving the car and her cell phone," a police official said.
Yash had won around 40 medals across the country in various games and was part of the team which recently won a national junior level championship in kabaddi.
A DU student, Yash was a bright scholar and was recently awarded a certificate of excellence by the HRD minister for topping Geography stream in the CBSE exams.
A passerby, identified as Pankaj Dheer had informed police about the incident.
