"While considering the recruitment rules for the post of Director, Kalakshetra Foundation, the Board is of the view that the recruitment rules should be such as to enable consideration of persons of high eminence for the position," a statement from Kalakshetra Foundation Chairman Gopalkrishna Gandhi said.
The Board resolved to recommend the Ministry of Culture that it consider modifying the rules over the appointment of persons of eminence, ability, standing and experience in classical or traditional art forms and modify the stipulation with regards to age suitably, he said.
The former West Bengal governor also said the Board noted "with regret" Leela Samson's resignation from the office of director, Kalakshetra Foundation and said it "unanimously expresses its desire to have her back as director".
Kalakshetra Foundation - announced as an 'Institute of National Importance' by Parliament under the Ministry of Culture in 1994, was until recently headed by Censor Board Chairman Samson, after she decided to resign from the post few days back.
