"I am sure it will send out a message of creativity and concentration to the art lovers in the city," Kalam said, inaugurating the exhibition titled 'Nature's Abstract Glory' late last evening and the day coincided with World Earth Day.
Born in Gudivada town of Andhra Pradesh, currently based in United States, 77-year-old Rama Rao has exhibited his work with leading artist such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Georges Bracque, Max Ernst, Salvador Dali, and Jackson Pollock.
Rao won the 1962 Commonwealth fellowship to go to London and join the Slade School of Fine Arts, London University. Among his many exhibitions in India and abroad, the artist achieved acclaim and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001.
The former President also relaunched the Gallery's art bulletin.
