"We need to rethink on how convergence of technologies at our disposal can solve some of the problems of rural population in the world and help them unleash their potential thereby leading to better human life without damaging the environment around it", he said.

There should be a method to locate fish resources in bulk quantity under water, monitor movement of animals and birds in bulk from place to place, Kalam said addressing valedictory of 3-day International Conference on "Sustainable Development and Governance: Building Commerce and Communities", organised by Amritha University and Deakin University, Australia.

"Whether science and technology has the possibility of guiding fishermen in the ocean and give an alarm when they cross international maritime boundary line", he asked.

"The need of the hour was the evolution of sustainable systems, which acted as enablers and bring the inclusive growth and integrated development to the nations of the world", he said.

One such sustainable development system was the mission of Provisions of Urban Amenities in Rural Area (PURA), which was accepted by the Government of India as National Mission, Kalam said.
