Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a premier institution of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) here tonight, while former president A P J Abdul Kalam exhorted RCI scientists to develop superior defence technologies.
RCI is engaged the design and development of world class weapons systems to strengthen the country's armed forces.
"As you celebrate the silver jubilee, you should have a vision for RCI's golden jubilee -- one that you would be remembered for. Would you be remembered for developing re-usable long-range hypersonic cruise missiles or for design, development and deployment of long range missile systems," Kalam asked RCI scientists.
"Yesterday, natural resources defined power and today it is knowledge. Yesterday, it was hierarchy and today it's synergy. While seniority drove status yesterday, it's creativity today. Above all, you should work with integrity and succeed with integrity," Kalam told the scientists.
The former president said that India needed value-based scientists, value-based technologists and value-based scientific leaders.
Scientific advisor to the Defence Minister Avinash Chander, Chief Controller of Research and Development (Missile Systems) V G Sekharan and RCI Director Satish Reddy also spoke during the event.
Former directors of RCI were felicitated on the occasion.
