Kalpana, known as Bhojpuri Queen and hails from Assam, said she will be singing a bhajan in "Har Har Byomkesh", which would recreate a scene from Ray's movie on detective Byomkesh Bakshi titled "Chirikhana".
Kalpana told PTI that she is very excited and "on cloud nine" to be part of "Har Har Byomkesh", a Bengali mystery thriller directed by Arindam Sil and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films.
The song, she said, would be shot in Varanasi.
The artist, who has acquired cult status in northern India and lent her voice for "Gandi Baat" in "R..Rajkumar', is happy to be a part of a Bengali film for the first time.

"I was a little confused when didi (Jaya) spoke about the acting part ... When I spoke to Bickram Ghosh I came to know that Arindam Sil, the director of Bengali films 'Aborto', 'Ebar Shabor' is directing the film", she said.
Sil, she said, had watched her in MTV Coke Studio singing Birha and had spoken to Ghosh about her.
She said the film is based on fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Adil Hussain, Abir Chatterjee and Nusrat Jahan would play the lead roles.
Shinjini Kulkarni, granddaughter of Kathak maestro Pt Birju Maharaj, will do a mujra act in this film, she said.
The versatile singer has sung in 22 languages, including Bhojpuri, Assamese, Hindi, Marathi Bengali and English, in her solo musical journey.
