The Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly today raised objection over the state government's decision to name a new sports club 'Kamal Club', alleging the BJP dispensation seeks to promote a political party's symbol.
Congress MLA Irfan Ansari raised the objection when Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Amar Kumar Bauri announced 'Kamal Club' would be set up to promote sports in all panchayats.
Entire Opposition joined Ansari and rushed to the Well, raising slogans against the government in the midst of the Minister's reply on the debate over Budget allocations to his departments.
The Minister, however said 'Kamal Club' would be registered under the Society Act and provided with sports kits.
"The government is also promoting archery. Does it mean it's a symbol of bow and arrow (indicating at the JMM's election symbol)?" he asked.
However, the Opposition members continued their protests, cutting short the Minister's reply.
As the din continued towards the end of the day's session, Speaker Dinesh Oraon took up the Cut Motion against the Budget allocations for voice vote.
The House disapproved the Cut Motion, while passing the Budget allocations through voice vote before the House was adjourned for the day.
