"KPL is planning to identify immediate and long term sustainable projects and assess the needs and demands of local fishermen through the Director of Fisheries, Staff Training Institute, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University," Kamaraj Port Ltd., Chairman and Managing Director, M A Bhaskarachar said in an official release.
As part of the initiative, KPL is planning to impart intensive training in modern fish breeding, fishing technologies, fish-food processing to the fishermen, he said.
"KPL is also considering intensive training in deep sea fishing and providing financial assistance to fishermen in order to procure accessories for fishing as well as fish production," he added.
KPL also entrusted MRF Institute for Driver Development with training 196 applicants in light motor vehicle course at a cost of Rs 16.85 lakh.
A training programme for laboratory technician, tailoring, air-condition and refrigeration mechanic by the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad was also launched on the occasion, it said.
