Kamrup stir holds up train movement

The movement of trains, including that of the premier Rajdhani Express, was affected today when locals blocked railway tracks here near Rangia in Kamrup district, railway officials said.
The protesters were demanding a halt of the Alipurduar- Lumding Intercity Express at Kendukona for their benefit.
Supported by various organisations, they blocked the rail tracks for two hours beginning from 7 A.M. The stir caused the down Rajdhani Express, Kamrup Express, up Manas Rhino Passenger and the Intercity Express to be held back at various places, the officials said.
Railway and civil administration officials met the agitators and got them to agree to lift the blockade following which train movements resumed, they added.
