Construction of Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya would be possible only if Hindus remained united and brought a "new" government at the Centre in the next elections, Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi has said.
"The Hindus should unite irrespective of caste, creed and colour, and bring a new government in the next elections to ensure building of Ram temple," he told a 'Hindu Awakening Conference' here last night.
The seer said the objective of the conference, organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was to unite Hindus and asked all people to follow the path of 'dharma' (Righteousness).
Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy said on the occasion, "There will be change in Tamil Nadu only if there is political renaissance."
Later, when reporters asked him about former telecom minister and 2G spectrum case prime accused A Raja's plea for appearing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee looking into the scam, he said it would be of no use.
