Kandhamal District Collector Brunda D appealed to all government officials of the district to donate one day's salary for conjoined twin boys of Milupada in Phiringia block.
The rare surgery to separate the twins is likely to be conducted in the last week of this month, Chitta Ranjan Mohapatra, District Emergency Officer and Incharge officer of District Red Cross Society, told reporters.
The conjoined twins - Honey and Singh alias Jagannat and Balram - hailed from a BPL tribal family and were born on April 9, 2015 in Phiringia Primary Health Centre and were kept at the district Headquarter Hospital for about two months, official sources said.
Earlier Odisha Health and Family Welfare minister Pratap Jena had visited AIIMS, New Delhi and consulted with the treating doctors. The twins boys are hospitalised at the All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi at the state government's initiative.
The twins father Bhuyan Kanhar is a poor man and can not affort the high cost of treatment required to separate the conjoined twins. Their mother Pushpanjali Kanhar had appealed the chief minister for help.
