Several doctors of private hospitals and nursing homes linked with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Kanpur will hold a day-long strike over various demands tomorrow.
President of IMA Kanpur, Dr Kiran Pandey said that doctors will not treat patients in OPD from 8 AM to 8 PM on Friday, however, emergency services will continue in the hospitals.
Although the Medical Protection Act has been passed but the doctors are not getting its benefits, Pandey claimed, adding that a single window system should also be introduced to resolve their problems.
Many doctors in the state are being arrested and harassed, Pandey alleged, citing the suspension of Dr Aartilal Chandani of Kanpur Medical College.
For all these demands, the Uttar Pradesh unit of the IMA has called for the strike, she said.
Doctors will stage a demonstration at Phoolbagh Ground and will later submit a memorandum listing all demands to the District Magistrate, IMA Secretary Dr RC Gupta said.
