Kapas prices fell by 1.74 per cent to Rs 876.50 per 20 kg in futures trading today as speculators locked-in gains at prevailing levels amidst weak demand in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, Kapas for delivery in far-month February contracts traded Rs 15.50, or 1.74 per cent, lower at Rs 876.50 per 20 kg, having an open interest of 55 lots.
Similarly, delivery in April month contracts shed Rs 3.50, or 0.39 per cent, to trade at Rs 902.50 per 20 kg, in an open interest of 6,748 lots.
Marketmen said besides profit-booking by speculators, increased supplies in the spot markets also dampened the trading sentiments.
