Former India players Kapil Dev and VVS Laxman have welcomed the experiment of day-night Test cricket on the eve of the match between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide, saying it is a positive move.
The first day-night Test match will begin tomorrow with Australia hosting New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval in the third and final game of their current series.
"I am very happy to see the plans to play a day/night Test coming into action. I would personally like to welcome this move as I see a lot of positives from it. If this format clicks, we are in for another revolution in the Test cricket history," Dev, India's first cricket World Cup winning skipper, said in a release.
Laxman also felt that the day/night Test matches would be a boon for the fans who generally miss the entire day's play due to work.
"This is an exciting time for the cricketing fans as they can directly head to the stadiums or tune in on their TV sets to catch the action live. Historically it has been proven time and again that a little modification in the way the game has been played traditionally has been successful," said Laxman.
"This is a revolution in the Test cricket format and I believe this is just the beginning of a new era for Test cricket," he added.
The Test will be start at 9am India time tomorrow.
